Miranda Moore-Stepnitz, M.S., is a trained functional and integrative medicine nutritionist with two health science degrees. Miranda attended graduate school at the University of Western States in Portland, Oregon (the second oldest chiropractic college in the United States), where she obtained her Master's Degree in Human Nutrition and Functional Medicine (this institution is partnered with the Institute of Functional Medicine (IFM) the gold-standard in functional medicine). Miranda also attended Oakland University in Rochester, MI, obtaining a bachelor's degree in Integrative Holistic Medicine while minoring in Nutrition and Health.

Miranda is the Owner and Founder of Awaken Health Nutrition LLC, established in 2021, and a current member of the American Nutrition Association, the Oakland Univerity Alumni Association, the Golden Key Honour Society, the Tau Sigma Honor Society, and the Sterling Heights Regional Chamber of Commerce. Miranda received several honors, recognitions, grants, and awards while she attended Oakland University and the University of Western States.

Besides having a busy functional medicine nutrition practice, Miranda teaches chemistry, biology, anatomy, physiology, nutrition, and health, along with the laboratory courses for each class part-time to high school students. Miranda loves sharing her love of science with younger generations, and teaching helps her foster a more profound understanding of these sciences with every lesson plan.

Miranda is passionate about all things science-related, especially health science, nutrition, functional medicine, integrative medicine, chemistry, biochemistry, physics, and quantum mechanics. Miranda has studied the human body, health science, nutrition, and holistic medicine for over a decade.

As a functional medicine health detective, a functional medicine nutritionist is different from your average nutritionist or practitioner; this type of practitioner is always looking for the root cause/causes of your body's current state of confusion and lack of optimal health—disease, dysfunction, and cause of existing symptoms. Miranda has a passion for helping others regain their health through natural means with a focus on diet and lifestyle changes. Miranda also works with clients looking to maintain their health or elevate it to the next level as a preventative way to avoid disease in the future.

Functional medicine is a holistic approach to health care. During assessments with Miranda, because of her specialties in functional medicine, integrative medicine, and nutrition, she will assess several areas of your health, not solely your nutritional needs; the whole body will be considered while evaluating the client's current health state while the treatment plan the practitioner will create is individualized for each client and their specific health goals.

Functional medicine is a client-centered approach to health care, and we are here to support you every step of the way to help you get your health where you would like it to be. Functional medicine does not believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to health; we believe in bio-individuality and personalized care.
